Unhinged Review

As a book blogger I try to stick to fiction (namely romance) to review, I try not to get political. Even though I read (and loved) Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury, I didn’t post about it. So why review Unhinged? First I think Omarosa is not given enough credit in the media. Yes she’s a reality T.V. star but she has done so much more with her life. Second, I have a feeling that Unhinged will be the first of many books written by disgruntled former Trump aides, and I will read those all too. Without further ado here are my thoughts on Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House:

Omarosa is a captivating story teller. One of the things I liked about reading her book is she set up the beginning of her relationship with the president and was honest about her shortcomings. She had a large “blindspot” for him and he was “racial not racist” in her mind. Ever the reality T.V star, her book is full of drama. At one point she suggests that Ivanka and Jared are the source of most of the leaks. Surprisingly the media is pretty quiet on that claim. Her book also gave me a newfound respect for Melania Trump. Omarosa claims that she intentionally uses her wardrobe to undermine her husband. (does anyone else remember the jacket?)

Overall the book did not really tell too many stories that were not in the news, so i don’t think i really learned anything new about the White House or the drama that goes on inside it.

Omarosa’s book was certainly an entertaining read and I enjoyed every bit of it. I did feel that she made too many excuses for President Trump but so did Omarosa. I definitely have a new respect for her.
